We sell diamonds based on their actual beauty --
not just  what a piece of paper says is beautiful.

It struck  us one night as we were reading the classic  bed time story, The Emporer's New Clothes.  In it the Emporer gets duped into wearing a suit made  of the finest thread on earth, so fine in fact that no one could see it and he was really walking around with nothing on.  Two traveling salesman had sold him the suit for a tremendous amount of money, they told him that only fools and knaves coud not see what a beautiful suit it was.

The story reminded us of how many people must feel as they are shopping for diamonds.  A slick talking salesman behind the counter who insinuates that the only way to own a beautiful diamond is to spend more than you ever thought you would have to.  Especially if the diamond is so exquisite that you need a roomful of expensive equipment and measuring instruments to know how beautiful it really is.

The diamonds that we obtain, speak for themselves, you won't have to be an expert to see their beauty.  We will answer any question you have in a staightforward manner.  We promise absolutely  no cheesy sales pitches or high pressure.

We have met most of our favorite clients during the process of designing and or selecting an engagement ring.  We know how important this purchase is on all levels.  You want to to make this moment right because it will only come along once in your lifetime.  You also want to make sure that you are getting good quality and value.  We understand that buying an engagement ring can be a process and we are very sensitive to this.

After 17 years in the jewelry business we believe that there has never been a better time in history to purchase an engagement ring.  Diamond prices are highly competitive and the wealth of styles and options available to you are overwhelming.  Throughout this process though, nothing is more important than honest advice and good service.  A personal relationship with an honest jeweler can save you thousands of dollars over a lifetime.  Whether you deal with us from a long distance or come in to the store and meet us face to face we promise to partner with you to find the best engagement ring possible.

The process of shopping for a diamond can be incredibly confusing.  Many web-sites literally list thousands of diamonds and expect you to sift through this information and make a choice.  At a shopper's club you have to call over an employee who was stocking shelves to answer questions about a diamond they have in a case.  Or you can walk into a snobbish high end jeweler and listen as they try to justify the ridiculous prices for their diamonds and rings.  We know there is a market and a customer for each of these outlets.  We just prefer to do it differently.

We are a jeweler in the true sense of the word.  Our store is also our work shop where rings and jewelry are being made on a daily basis.    Most jewelry stores are just retail outlets for many different designers, filled with jewelry salespeople and no designers or craftsmen.    In our store you can speak directly with the owner, designers, and the craftsmen who will be in charge of finding your diamond and building your engagement ring.  This complete control of the process allows us to control our pricing and to have influence over each and every aspect of buying an engagement ring.

Each and every day we monitor the diamond market and communicate with our sources about what is available  in sizes and quantities.  We do not work off of the same tired "virtual" inventories most diamond websites use.

We deal with real flesh and blood people who are diamond cutters and brokers.   When we speak to them about diamonds we do not only talk about the certificates because although they are very important, they do not and cannot tell the whole story about a diamond. We use common sense and many years of diamond buying experience to differentiate between the good values and the misleading ones.

There has never been a more competitive marketplace for diamonds than there is right now.  High quality diamonds are now affordable for all.  Let us use our extensive contacts to find a diamond that will make your engagement special.  Our diamond pricing for like quality is much lower than so called "direct diamond importers' and even rivals many legitimate website pricing.  So if you can get extreme  customer service face to face and not pay more for it, why would you buy a diamond anywhere else?

4C’s Primer

below  are some ideas and concepts that you should become familiar with before you begin to shop for your engagement ring.  Four categories are used to mark a diamond's rarity:

Color

When used in relation to white diamonds, the term color actually refers to the absence of color. The best white diamonds are colorless or nearly so, without any tints of yellow or brown. The color scale begins at D and works down through varying shades of white, gray, yellow, and brown to Z. The scale does not take into account fancy colored diamonds, such as canary yellow or pink.
Clarity

The clarity scale begins with very rare flawless diamonds with no internal inclusions, which usually are other small diamond crystals, feathers, or pinpoints. Each clarity grade is given based on the inclusions size, shape, and location. The important part of the scale is at SI1 and SI2. This area is the point where you may be able to spot inclusions with an unaided eye. Most SI1 diamonds are eye clean, but above this point on the scale we need a microscope in order to spot inclusions. Below this point diamonds can be very pleasing to the eye but large inclusions may be distracting.
Carat Weight

The size of a diamond is an actual measurement of mass.  A 1 carat diamond is equal to 200 milligrams. There is no standard width, height or depth for polished diamonds. Because of this, many diamonds are cut to maximize their weight and not their brilliance (beware of buying a diamond solely based on weight). Jewelers use a point system when speaking of a diamond's weight: 100 points is equal to 1 carat. Diamonds can weigh 1 point or 73 points, but pay particular attention to ½ carats (.50 points), ¾ cts (.75 points) and 1 carats (100 points.)  The price jumps in size generally take place every 25 points.

Finally different shapes of diamonds look different for their size because of the way they carry their weight. For instance a round brilliant cut diamond carries the majority of its weight on the top, like an umbrella, whereas emerald cuts have a lot of their weight in the pavilion (the lower portion of the stone). When viewed from the top the round cut will look bigger than the emerald cut even though they weigh the same.

A well cut 1 carat round brilliant diamond is about the size of  the eraser on top of a brand new pencil. (6.5mm)

Cut

Well-cut diamonds are cut for beauty and not weight.   Rough diamonds can yield anywhere from 30 to 70% of their original weight.  Most diamond cutters cut a rough diamond so that it maintains as much of its original weight as possible. They are more concerned with hitting a magic weight number like 1.00ct, than they are in making a diamond shine with brilliance and sparkle. This is one of the reasons you may see ads like "1ct solitaires for $999". In order for a diamond to sparkle and shine it must be cut to proportion with proper facet arrangement regardless of what it weighs in the end.
